Why I decided to buy an EGO battery trimmer. And I bought it from Avelte SIA
During the school year, I teach English to students in grades 2–10 in the afternoons. I spend the summer in the countryside, living in an old apartment in a two-story house with my neighbors. We have gardens and barns nearby. Of course, there is a lot to mow in the gardens, around them, in the area around the house and by the barns. Almost every day I have to trim something with a trimmer.
I always cut the grass with a petrol trimmer. I had three of them. The first was 0.7, the second 0.9 and the last 1.55. The last one was a powerful Stiga 555 trimmer. It cut everything, but with petrol it weighed up to 10 kg and was very noisy. So I always had to choose the right time to mow, because the loud engine noise was unpleasant if people were working in the garden or someone's child was sleeping in the afternoon or in the morning.
I also didn't like the fact that such a powerful engine was right behind me. It's impossible to work without headphones, as it can seriously damage your hearing. In addition, a powerful engine consumes a lot of fuel, which in turn burns and is released as exhaust gases 50 centimeters from my head. I have to breathe it all in. If you work for an hour or two a day, I don't think it's very healthy. What if people used these trimmers all day? What and how much do they breathe in? In addition, a powerful trimmer creates a lot of vibration, which has a number of negative effects on the body.
I have often wondered about the negative health effects of petrol trimmers. I tried to find information about it in the manuals. They provide some information, for example, the recommendation to wear ear protection and safety glasses. In one manual I read that working without ear protection can cause permanent hearing loss. This really worried me. Then I realized that the health effects of the trimmer motor are much more serious than I had previously thought. This is the main reason why I decided to give up petrol trimmers and switch to battery trimmers.
I've seen women start buying small battery trimmers in our garden. They're easy to use and quiet. There's no need for a petrol engine. All those carburettors, pistons, rings and gearboxes - you don't have to worry about them. You just press a button and mow without any headphones. But such a low-powered trimmer doesn't suit me because I have to mow quite a large area. And the grass is quite long in some places, although most of it is just regular lawn.
The EGO power+ trimmer is suitable for this purpose. Its power is comparable to an average petrol trimmer (Stihl, Husqvarna). This trimmer is offered by SIA Avelte. Why should I buy it from them? They have a large yard in Ulbroka and an area outside where you can try it out, turn it on and use it. They will explain and show you everything. I once went into a large store. They had some battery trimmers hanging on the wall. I looked at them, but I didn't understand anything. There was no one to ask, where else to try. So I went. That's why I recommend buying a battery trimmer from SIA Avelte. Their phone number is 26824441.
I asked the AI to calculate the cost difference between using an EGO trimmer and a petrol trimmer over five years. It concluded that the petrol trimmer would be more expensive anyway. But even if the EGO were more expensive, it would still be worth buying and using, because money can't buy health.

An interview with Julia Korshunova, a Farleigh Dickinson University graduate (USA)
- Julia, you started to take extra English classes when you were in the fourth form? - Yes, I had problems with English at that time. - Did things soon improve? - I didn’t even notice. Now I think I’ve always had excellent marks at school.
